| Connect was recently chosen to develop
a new website for Job Centre Plus to
support their new initiative Step
Closer 2 Work. The Step Closer 2 Work
project is aimed at helping and
supporting people within some areas of
Liverpool who have been claiming
Incapacity or other benefits for more
than 12 months to get the job or
training that they want. The project
team will also work with employers to
find the people they need. The new website will be a vital tool for the Step Closer 2 Work team allowing them to communicate key information about the services available to their customers. It is underpinned by a content-management system, allowing non-technical members of the team to easily publish articles, news, FAQs etc as well as to maintain a resources library for use by clients. A unique feature of the website is the online service eligibility checker to enable the website user to enter their postcode to check if they are eligible for the Step Closer 2 Work services. Ian Walker, Connect’s Design Manager says, “Connect’s experience in the development of W3C-WAI accessible websites without compromise to design aesthetics or functionality was a significant factor in our being selected. The website has been designed to W3C-WAI level AA, and this is particularly pertinent to the target audience for the website”. | More on Step Closer 2 Work |
